Biography

BHugh Howie was born in Glasgow on 14 February, 1924. He died on 14 January 1958.
Hugh Howie was an unsung hero of the great Hibernian team that won three league championships in the early post-war period, in seasons 1947/48, 1950/51 and 1951/52. A useful full back or centre back, he joined Hibs in 1943 from Newton Juniors and stayed with the club until forced to retire on medical grounds in 1954. He was forging a career as a journalist before his tragically early death in a car accident.
