Andrew ’Daddler’ Aitken was born in Ayr on 27 April 1877. Died on 15 February 1955. Played locally for Ayr Thistle, Ayr Parkhouse and Kilmarnock, before joining Newcastle United in July 1895. His time there coincided with the Tyneside club’s rise to greatness and while with them he won the Football League in 1905 and reached two FA Cup Finals, in 1905 and 1906. In November 1906 he moved to Middlesbrough as player/manager and took a similar post at Leicester Fosse in 1909. Retur
