Biography

Stephen is a product of the Celtic youth system and broke into the first team at Celtic Park in season 2001/02. In 2004 he won a move to then English Premier League side Southampton and then Leeds United.

 

He signed for Blackpool in 2007 and quickly became a fans’ favourite, picking up the club’s Player of the Year award in his first full season.

 

Stephen won his first Scotland cap in an away defeat to France in 2002. In November 2010, after an absence of more than six years, he was re-called to the Scotland squad by Craig Levein for the 3-0 friendly win over Faroe Islands.
