| Hugh T Kelly was born in Valleyfield Fife on 23 July 1923. He was signed by Blackpool in 1943 from the Perth junior team Jeanfield Swifts and spent 18 years at Bloomfield Road where he appeared in two FA Cup Finals (but not the 1953 triumph). Also spent two years with non-league Ashton United as player manager from 1961-63. As well as his single Scotland cap he also appeared twice for the Scotland B team. A traditional no-nonsense left half with a solid tackle and accurate passing. After his playing days he remained in Blackpool as a grocer with additional business as an ice cream manufacturer. |
