| Alexander Bell was born in Cape Town South Africa of Scottish parents probably in 1883. He died on 29 November 1934. An effective midfielder playing on the left he went to Manchester United from Ayr Parkhouse in 1903 and spent ten seasons at Old Trafford. He won the Football League championship in 1908 and 1911 as well as the FA Cup in 1909. From 1913 he played for Blackburn Rovers but retired after a handful of matches. He was trainer for Coventry City and then Manchester City until his early death. |
