John Auld

John Robertson Auld was born in Lugar (Ayrshire) on 7 January 1862. He died on 29 April 1932.
A fine defensive centre half who made his mark in Scotland and was then sought after in England. Auld began his career with Kilmarnock and Lugar Boswell before joining Third Lanark and then Queen's Park in November 1884. He returned to Thirds in 1886 and was in their Scottish Cup winning team of 1889. Almost immediately he was taken south to turn professional with Sunderland.
