Biography
George Gillespie was born in Stirling on 22 June, 1859. He died on 3 February, 1900. Probably the top goalkeeper of his day, despite earlier years playing at full back, he was also a talented track athlete. He joined Rangers around 1875 and was in their two Scottish Cup Final teams of 1877 and 1879, both of which were lost. He moved to Queen's Park in January 1884, playing in their FA Cup Final teams that year and the next, before finally winning Scottish Cup medals in 1886 and 1890.
