Biography
John Daniel Taylor was born in Dumbarton on 27 January, 1872. He died on 21 February, 1949.
Taylor had success early in his career, winning consecutive Scottish League championship medals with Dumbarton by the time he was 20, in 1890/91 and 1891/92. He transferred to St Mirren in 1894 but in May 1896 was snapped up by Everton, and he had a prolonged 16 year spell at Goodison. He played in three FA Cup Finals, although only one - in 1906 - was successful while those of 1897 and 1907 ended in
