Biography
James Douglas was born in Renfrew on 3 September, 1859. He died in September, 1919. A small but powerful player, Douglas weighed just 8 stones but could reportedly still make his presence felt. His nickname was 'Black Jimmy'. He played locally with Paisley Institution and Renfrew FC, winning his cap against Wales, before moving to Barrow Rangers in England in 1880, and later that year was tempted to join Blackburn Rovers.
