Biography
Andrew Black was born in Stirling on 23 September, 1917.
An inside left, Black signed for Heart of Midlothian in 1934 from Shawfield Juniors, and was a particularly useful and lively force in the Hearts attack for many years. He scored in each of his three Scotland appearances, and another claim to fame was scoring a hat trick at Ibrox against Rangers in November 1937. During the second world war he guested for several English clubs including Grimsby, York, Aldershot, Liverpool and Crewe.
