Biography
James Wilson was probably born in Alexandria (Dunbartonshire) about 1866. He died on 28 February, 1900, aged 33.
A fine goalkeeper, he joined Vale of Leven as a teenager and was in the teams which reached the Scottish Cup finals of 1885 and 1890. In 1897 he was reported to be acting as a referee. Outside football was a crack marksman with the Dunbartonshire Volunteers and shot in major competitions. He died young from pneumonia.
