Craig Thomson appointed to FIFA U17 World Cup Final

Craig Thomson has been appointed as referee to the FIFA Under-17 World Cup final between Nigeria and Mexico.

He will be joined by assistant referees Derek Rose and Alan Mulvanny for the showpiece match, which takes place in the United Arab Emirates on Friday, 8th November, kick-off 8pm local time (4pm UK time).

Craig’s appointment is the first for a Scottish referee at a World Cup final since 1985 when David Syme took charge of the under-19 final between Brazil and Spain.

He has already refereed two matches at the finals, which features 24 teams.

Craig took charge of Uruguay versus Ivory Coast on 20th October and Morocco’s match against Ivory Coast on 29th October.
