Busy weekend of SWPL and League Cup action ahead

Friday, 06 April 2012

This Easter weekend sees the return of SWPL action following the international break, as well as the quarter-finals of the SWFL 1st Division League Cup and the second round of the SWFL 2nd Division League Cup.

In the SWPL, leaders Glasgow City travel to Kilmarnock, while Celtic and Hibs, both on maximum points alongside City, have home matches against Falkirk and Hamilton Academical respectively.

In the other SWPL games, newly-promoted Aberdeen will seek to continue their bright start to the season at home to Forfar Farmington, while Spartans host Inverness City and Rangers welcome Hutchison Vale to Glasgow.

Meanwhile, the three remaining SWFL 1st Division League Cup quarter-final ties will take place on Sunday. Cowdenbeath overcame Troon in a thrilling 6-4 victory in the first quarter-final tie and the other sides will be hoping to join them in the semi-finals as they compete for the first silverware of the season.

The ties all kick-off at 2pm on Sunday and see Queen's Park travel to Ayrshire to face Kilwinning, Airdrie United hosting Celtic Reserves and Hibs Reserves taking on Paisley Saints Ladies.
