UNDER 19s HEAD FOR AUSTRIA
Monday, 23 May 2005
Scotland Under 19s meet up today for their crucial UEFA Under 19 Championship qualifiers this week.
There have been two enforced changes to the original squad, with Michael Gardyne and Martin Woods both injured. In their place come Derek Carcary of Rangers, and Liam Craig, who captained Ipswich Town to their FA Youth Cup success this season.
Liam, who comes from Chirnside, could play for England or Wales through family links, but said: "With an English mother and Welsh grandfather I could have played for those two countries, but I could never imagine representing anyone but Scotland. Just talking about playing for Scotland, pulling on the shirt and singing Flower of Scotland makes the hairs on my neck stand up."
