The seven schools are the crown jewels of the Performance Strategy, directed by Mark Wotte.
The Scottish FA will invest £15m over the next four years, our biggest ever commitment to elite talent development.
On August 16, more than 100 pupils will enrol in our seven schools throughout the country with the objective of providing an extensive programme of technical and tactical coaching in the key 12 to 15 age group.
The aim is simple: integrating football into the curriculum in our seven schools, complementing the football practice currently undertaken by the young players with their respective clubs and helping each player reach the gold standard of 10,000 hours of football involvement over a 10 year period.
Ultimately, we are confident that some of those boys and girls those who walk through the school gates for the first time later this month will become the Scotland stars of the World Cup in 2022 and beyond.
All week, we will bring you exclusive interviews with the key figures behind the Regional Performance Schools, starting today with our Performance Manager, Neil Mackintosh.
We will speak to Perfromance Director Mark Wotte on his hopes and aspirations for the schools, and hear from the coaches, support staff and teachers involved in this exciting new venture for Scottish football.
There will be blogs from Mark Wotte and the coaches on the planning and preparation for the schools, as well as an opportunity for you to have your say during a live Twitter chat.
Visit our website every day this week for exclusive news on the planning and preparation for the Scottish FA Regional Performance Schools.
