Charity seeks teams for U9s/U11s girls' football event

Friday, 15 June 2012

Children’s charity Friend of EduSport in partnership with the Scottish FA have organised an exciting day of activities for young female footballers at the end of this month.

The ‘Go Sisters World Series - Celebration of Girls Football’ event in Perth on Saturday 30th June is looking for U11s and U9s teams from across the country to attend.
Go Sisters World Series (GSWS) is a programme of the Scottish-based charity Friend of EduSport who utilise sport as a development tool to educate, empower and inspire. The Go Sisters World Series specifically seeks to encourage women’s and girls to participate in sport, advocate for women’s rights and create a network of organisations providing sporting opportunities for girls.
The Go Sisters World Series operates in the UK and in ten different countries across five continents around the world. They work closely to support their partners in raising the profile of their sporting opportunities and to advocate on behalf of girls/women in their communities.
The Go Sisters World Series will be held in Perth this year, with the main attractions being an U9s and U11s girls’ football festival, as well as a Soccer Mums (Adults) game which will be supported by local club Jeanfield Swifts CSC.
All participating clubs will have the opportunity to make a statement in support of female sporting activities around the world by wearing the charity’s free colourful headbands.
Furthermore, teams are asked to come prepared to play with face paint completing team outfits, something that has become the signature of the organisation’s events around the world.
The event is also looking for mums and females to participate in our fun and friendly ‘Soccer Mums’ festival game.
The Go Sisters World Series Girls Football Event takes place on Saturday 30th June, 2012 at South Inch, Perth, from 10am – 1pm.
The cost for entry is £20 per U11s team and £1 per child for U9s players. The cost for entry to Soccer Mums event is £3 per female adult.
All funds raised will be used to support girls in education in one of Zambia’s poorest communities.
To book your place at the inaugural Go Sisters World Series please contact Sam Milne at Sam.milne@scottishfa.co.uk or on 07841 569805.
