Football Equity: Make your voice heard

Thursday, 28 June 2012

The Scottish FA, with key support from the Scottish Government's CashBack For Communities Fund, is conducting a survey to find out what people know about the wide ranging football programmes it offers.

If you would like to get involved in football but feel there are barriers in your way, you can make your voice heard by taking part in our survey. This will help the Scottish FA to shape the way it supports individuals, groups and diverse communities.

The survey is part of the Scottish FA’s Football Equity Project, funded by the Scottish Government’s CashBack For Communities programme, which invests funds recovered by criminals back into communities.

A key strategic partner in the project is Black and Ethnic Minority Infrastructure in Scotland (BEMIS).

Explaining the project, Scottish FA football development manager Donald Gillies said: “We have long been advocates and providers of football for all. However this resource has given us a fantastic opportunity to really create a targeted approach to getting the Black and Minority Ethnic Communities further involved in the sport.

“We hope to understand the needs and wants of a variety of groups, and provide knowledge of new and existing opportunities to get into the game.

“We fully understand that this is a two-way process. As well as informing and supporting BME communities with regards to the grassroots game, we need to educate the established grassroots clubs to help them recognise and cater for the diverse communities that we live in.

"We hope that the survey will be the beginning of a great deal of positive action for the game.”
