Developmental Fours

The Scottish FA launched the Developmental Fours programme in 2007 and through the hard work of our Regional Managers, Football Development Officers and volunteers, there are now many young people playing this format. 

The concept of 4-aside football was introduced in Holland and the Scottish FA wanted to develop the idea further and produced the Developmental Fours resource and programme.
 

It was very pleasing that the independent study by Grant Findlay at Stirling University confirmed that the Scottish FA Developmental Fours is an excellent teaching tool and provides young children with the opportunity to be creative in an excellent learning environment.  The work Grant has done will provide evidence for the Scottish FA and others to further develop the game and young players.
