Saltire Saturday- One Flag, One Country, One Team

This Saturday Scotland have a chance to get the campaign back on track.
Despite everything that has been said and written, George and the Boys can
still make it to the play offs. Six points is the aim from the next two
games, but we are not thinking beyond Macedonia and doing everything we can
to get the victory.
That is why we are launching Saltire Saturday. In simple terms it means
bringing a Saltire to the game, painting your face or putting a flag in your
window on match day. But it means so much more than that.
Saltire Saturday is about showing everyone, all the critics, that whatever
it takes, you will back the team. It is about standing up and showing the
world that we still believe. It is about shouting loud and proud that we
know that it is going to be tough, but that we will play our part.
What has happened has happened, what has been has been. Saturday is all
about the here and now. It is about making noise, it is about creating the
type of atmosphere that football fans around the world know Hampden for. It
is about making sure that the Macedonian team realise that they are not just
playing against 11 men - they are up against an entire country.
We have the best supporters anywhere on the planet, everyone knows that.
Saltire Saturday is our chance to reaffirm that. It is our chance to get the
three points. Against Holland anything is possible. On Saltire Saturday we
will give ourselves a fighting chance.
The campaign has got the support of the First Minister Alex Salmond, who said:
"I am absolutely behind the idea of Saltire Saturday. Scotland has the best
supporters in the world and I know that they will be 100% behind George and
the Boys as they aim to take the country to the World Cup.
"There is no finer sight than Hampden in full swing. It is one of the most
intimidating arenas in sport and any team would find it hard to compete against
the Tartan Army at the National Stadium. There is still every chance that we can
make it to South Africa, so I would urge fans everywhere to fly the flag and back
the team."
