Cerebral Palsy International Sports and Recreation Association (CPISRA), the world governing body for Cerebral Palsy (CP) football, has awarded the 2010 European Football Championships to Glasgow.
The event will be held at the new Regional Football Centre at Toryglen from the 17th-28th August and will feature nine European teams. CPISRA has also confimed that Australia will be invited into the tournament as guests - their involvement will have no impact upon rankings.
The tournament draw, conducted on 4 May 2010 by Scottish FA president George Peat, national coach Craig Levein and youth teams national coach Billy Stark, is as follows:
| Group A | Group B |
| Spain | Australia |
| The Netherlands | Republic of Ireland |
| Scotland | England |
| Russia | Ukraine |
| Denmark | Finland |
The full tournament schedule is to follow.
On awarding Glasgow the championships Alan Dickson of CPISRA said:
“We are delighted that Glasgow will be hosting the European Championships next year. Right from the start of
the bidding process it was clear that everyone in the city - and in the national sports agencies - were absolutely
committed to putting on a first class event.
“The first ever CPISRA event was held in Scotland in 1978 so, in some ways, these championships mark a
Homecoming for CP Football.
“I have no doubt that by selecting Glasgow we have made an excellent choice.”
The following organisations are working in partnership with the Scottish FA to deliver this international competition.
