The Tesco Bank Football Challenge is designed to enourage primary two and three children to become more active and develop a love of the game.
The programme follows the principles of the Scottish FA’s National Player Pathway, which starts with small-sided games and grows with the child, using the most appropriate format for their age and stage of development.
4-a-side football is played at this stage.
Delivered by Scottish FA coaches, the programme provides free activity sessions at primary schools alongside local festivals and events.
The programme also incorporates the Positive Coaching Scotlandphilosophy, which challenges the ‘win at all costs’ mentality andfocuses on learning, respect, responsibility, effort and success.
Our main objective when working with children of this age is to provideopportunities to take part in physical activity and encourage them to beaware of the benefits of living an active lifestyle.
The programme is delivered initially by Scottish FA coaches. In thelong-term, we can provide a teacher and volunteer training programme foryour school and a tailor-made curriculum to fit into your Curriculumfor Excellence.
Tesco Bank is investing over £1 million in the four-year programme. Theaim is to reach 72,000 boys and girls of all levels and abilities in,at least, 1,600 primary schools with over 500,000 coaching hours in thattime.
