About the West Region


The West Region of the SJFA was formed in 2002 as part of the total Reconstruction of Scottish Junior Football and is now commencing its 13th Season.

This change involved the amalgamation of the Central Region of the SJFA, 39 Clubs, and the Ayrshire Region of the SJFA, 24 Clubs.

The West Region operates the following 5 Leagues with the 63 Clubs. In each League Clubs play each other twice with 3 Points for a Win and 1 Point for a Draw, and with Promotion and Relegation at the end of each Season.

 

Stagecoach Leagues

1. Super League, Premier Division (12 Clubs)

(2 Bottom Clubs Relegated and the 3rd Bottom Club plays the 3rd Top Club in the First Division on a Home & Away Fixture with the Winner playing in the Premier Division)

2. Super League, First Division (14 Clubs)

(2 Top Clubs Promoted and 4 Bottom Clubs Relegated, to relevant District League and with the 3rd Top Club playing the 3rd Bottom Club in the Premier Division on a Home & Away Fixture for a chance to be Promoted to the Premier Division if they Win)

3. Ayrshire District League (13 Clubs)

(2 Top Clubs Promoted)

4. Central District League, First Division (13 Clubs)

(2 Top Clubs Promoted and 3 Bottom clubs Relegated)

5. Central District League, Second Division (11 Clubs)

(3 Top Clubs Promoted)

 

 The Region also organise the following Cup Competitions.

 

 The Sectional League Cup Competitions (2)


Central District, (Euro Scott Engineering Sectional League Cup) - having 6 Sections of 5 Clubs and 2 Sections of 4 Clubs.


 Ayrshire District, (Ardagh Sectional League Cup) having 4 Sections of 6 Clubs.

(These Cups are played under League Rules up to Quarter Final Ties)

New Coin Automatics Cup

 

All 63 compete in this Cup Competition.

The Euro Scott Engineering Central League Cup

 

All 39 Central District Clubs compete in this Cup Competition.

The Ayrshire Weekly Press Cup

 

All 24 Ayrshire District Clubs compete in this Cup Competition.


The Evening Times Cup

 

The winners of the 5 Leagues compete in the Competition.
