St.Aidan's HS scoop the Bank of Scotland School of the Month Award

Saturday, 01 May 2010

St.Aidan's High School were recently presented with the Bank of Scotland School of the Month award for March to recognise the excellent achievements of both their U18 boys and U15 Girls teams.

The U18s have shown great resilience in reaching the Final of the national Senior Shield, winning both their 5th and 6th round ties on penalties before beating St Modan's High School of Stirling 2-0 in the Semifinal.

The U15 Girls have also been impressive in reaching the Quarterfinals of their respective Shield competition, notching up nine goals in the process. The Award was presented by Michelle Green, local Branch Manager for Bank of Scotland.

The Bank of Scotland School of the Month Award has been introduced to recognise the achievements of the primary and secondary schools that take part in the National Football competitions supported by Bank of Scotland. This year almost 2,000 schools and nearly 17,000 young people from all over Scotland will take part across seven Bank of Scotland Shield competitions. Each month the Scottish Schools' FA will nominate one team that has excelled in one of their fixtures or demonstrated high standards of fair play.

Michelle Green of Bank of Scotland, said: "Congratulations to St Aidan's High School for scooping only the second ever Bank of Scotland School of the Month Award. Both the U18 and U15 Girls teams have shown exceptional skill and dedication to their sport and are very worthy winners of the award. I wish them the best of luck for the remainder of their respective competitions."

Ross Stirling, Football Co-ordinator at St Aidan's, said: "Both the U18s and U15 Girls team have been a credit to the school this year and everyone has been cheering them on in their respective Shield fixtures. It gives the whole school a lift to see the U18s in with a chance of winning a national competition and it will be fantastic for the players if they can go on to lift the Bank of Scotland Senior Shield to be played at Hampden Park on 21st May."

The Bank of Scotland also sponsors the U15 girls and U18 boys international teams.
