Bishopbriggs Academy secured its first national title in a very close encounter with a very talented St.John's High team from Dundee by 2-1 at Tynecastle Park, Heart of Midlothian F.C. on Friday 24th April.
This was an enthralling game in which both teams created numerous goal opportunities from good passing football.
Bishopbriggs took the lead midway through the first half when a flowing passing move down the right finished with a deft pass into the box which was rifled home by the lurking Jordan Moore.
St.John's rallied and within five minutes deservedly equalised from a well-struck free kick from Connaire Connelly.
The second half was a real nail biter with both teams looking to create chances at every opportunity.
The winning goal came early in the half when Jordan Moore, the Bishopbriggs centre forward, showed uncanny control in the box before sidefooting the ball beyond the stranded keeper.
St.John's did not give up and Bishopbriggs had to hold on for dear life in the closing ten minutes.
Both teams are to be congratulated on providing an excellent spectacle of schools' football.
Bishopbriggs Academy will now represent the Scottish Schools' F.A. in the British Championships being staged in England.
Dumfries Academy were the inaugural winners of this championship last year. Let's hope Bishopbriggs Academy can retain the trophy for Scotland.
