The Scottish Schools' FA is committed to ensuring, as far as possible, that all coaches working with players in the Association's activities have undertaken at least a basic course from the Scottish FA's Coach Education Programme. There are opportunities for coaches to receive support for participation in courses at Level 1 and on occasions Level 2.

SECONDARY SCHOOL AGES
The following are preferred levels of qualification and, for District & National teams, it is expected that coaches are at least working towards these qualifications :
PRIMARY SCHOOL AGES
The appropriate level of qualification from the Children's strand of Coach Education would apply.

Scottish FA Coach Education Pathway
The pathway relevant to teachers involved in taking a school team is as follows :
Development Certificate - 6 Hour Course - £30. Attendance.
Level 1.2 - Coaching Footballers 13+ - 12 Hours - £45. Attendance.
Level 1.3 - Coaching in the Game - 12 Hours - £55. Attendance.
These courses constitute a Level 1 qualification with the level 1.2 qualification considered as a minimum qualification and the level 1.3 qualification as recommended.
Level 2 - C Licence Course - 30 Hours - £225. Assessed.
This qualification is recommended for staff involved with Local Association teams and International Squad teams.
Level 3 - B Licence Course - 16 Day Course over 1 year. Assessed. Approximate costs - £1200 for Introductory Course. £200 for Assessment days.
The SSFA will consider applications for attendance at courses at Level 1 and on occasions for the Level 2 course.
Initial enquiry for support should be made to Stewart Taylor. Following approval from the President's Committee, applicants should then complete a Scottish FA application form and indicate that payment would be made by a third party - Mr. Alex McMenemy, SSFA Treasurer, Hampden Park, Glasgow.
