U14 GIRLS SEVENS 2015-16

In the National Finals of the Girls U14 Sevens, sponsored by the Scottish Football Partnership Trust and Positive Coaching Scotland, it was St.Mungo's HS of Falkirk who retained the trophy.

St.Mungo's HS were in Section 2 with St.Ninian's HS Giffnock and Mintlaw Academy and showed they were in no mood to give up the trophy with two resounding victories in the league. Beating St,Ninian's HS 6-0 they then faced Mintlaw Ac. and scored three without reply to claim an early place in the final while they sat back and watched Mintlaw beat St,Ninian's 4-1 in the final game.

It was a little more dramatic in Section 1 where St.Andrew's HS Kirkcaldy showed early promise with a 3-0 win over George Heriot's School. In the second game St.Andrew's eventually came from behind to overcome a spirited Duncanrig Secondary team in a thrilling 4-3 game.  That put the Fife team into the final but not without a fright, then Duncanrig and George Heriot's proved to be another close affair ending in a 2-2 draw which meant Duncanrig would contest the 3rd/4th place game by virtue of goal difference.

In the 5th/6th place game George Heriot's School beat St.Ninian's HS Giffnock 2-1 while on the other pitch Duncanrig Secondary scored the only against Mintlaw Academy to win 1-0 and finish 3rd.

The final was an entertaining game but St.Mungo's HS soon powered their way into a 3-0 lead before St.Andrew's HS Kirkcaldy pulled one back. This was just a consolation goal for St.Andrew's however as St.Mungo's wrapped it up with another goal to win 4-1 and lift the trophy for the second year in a row.
