Last eight to battle it out for Henson Scottish Cup semi-final place

 

Last month’s quarter-final draw was made live on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard and saw the two remaining 1st Division sides avoid each other, while the two all-Premier League ties look likely to be highly contested fixtures.

 

Cup holders Glasgow City will be hoping to bounce back from their midweek Champions League disappointment as they host Celtic at Petershill Park on Sunday (kick-off 2pm).

 

Despite their European setback that sees them trail 2-1 going into the away leg of their last 32 tie, City’s domestic form this season has been faultless. They have collected maximum points in their league campaign with only a handful of games now remaining and picked up the first silverware of the season in the shape of the SWPL League Cup.

 

The two league meetings between the sides so far this season have both ended in an away victory for City despite creditable Celtic performances. This should give the Hoops some confidence as they attempt a third consecutive Scottish Cup victory over Premier League opposition, following defeats of FC Kilmarnock and Spartans in previous rounds.

 

In the other all-Premier League tie, Rangers welcome Forfar Farmington to Toryglen (kick-off 3pm) as they seek to prolong their cup involvement against their high-flying visitors. The solitary meeting between the teams this season ended in a 0-0 stalemate, with the teams now divided by the league split.

 

Rangers will provide Forfar with their first Premier League opposition in this year's Scottish Cup competition, after victories over Viewfield Rovers and Airdrie United in previous rounds, with Rangers having defeated SWPL rivals Inverness City in the 3rd round. Farmington will be looking to at least match their SWPL League Cup performance that saw them reach the semi-finals before losing out to eventual winners Glasgow City.

 

Premier League side Hamilton Academical will host 1st Division leaders Hibernian Reserves at the John Cumming Stadium in Carluke (kick-off 2pm), with a competitive match in prospect.

 

Though Hamilton have finished in the bottom six of the SWPL table, they have hit a good run of form since the split and will be looking to progress against opponents from a lower division for the third consecutive round in this year's Scottish Cup competition.

 

Finally, the SWPL's second placed side Hibernian will head west to face SWFL 1st Division League Cup winners Queens Park at Lesser Hampden in Glasgow (kick-off 3.45pm).

 

Having already dispatched of 1st Division opposition in the form of Paisley Saints Ladies and Celtic Reserves on their road to the quarter-finals, the Hibees will be confident that they can progress against the Glasgow side. However the Spiders prior cup success this season will offer them hope that they can cause an upset.
