Caithness Ladies prepare for competitive debut
Friday, 23 March 2012
Newly-formed Caithness Ladies will take on Inverness City in a friendly on Sunday 1 April in preparation for their Henson Scottish Cup first round match against Hibernian Reserves.
Caithness travel to West Lothian on Sunday 13 May for what will be the first competitive match in their history and club chairman Martyn Malcolm is under no illusion about the difficult nature of the task facing his team. He said ‘This is arguably the toughest draw we could have had so we are trying our best to prepare for this challenge’.
He continued ‘With the league being under way it is hard to find teams willing to travel to play us and with the cup tie costing us around £1500 we haven't the finances to cover an away trip before our Scottish Cup tie. I contacted Inverness City FC last week and they are willing to come up to Thurso and play us’.
‘The team need this match to get an understanding of what it is like to play against league opposition. We need as much practise as possible before the tie and this game will be the only one we can afford to play’.
The friendly between Caithness Ladies and Inverness City will take place at the Thurso all-weather pitch on Sunday 1 April, with a 2pm kick-off.
