“Helen's award is very well deserved. It shows that she is beginning to reap the rewards from the hard work and endeavour displayed on match day and at training. I am sure there is much more to come during the second half of the season. Helen’s award is also representative of how well the team as a whole are improving, owing her success in front of goal to excellent build up play and the contribution of her teammates. One of the most explosive strikers in this league, I fully expect her to continue to add to her goal tally in the second half of the season. Well done Helen, a great achievement.”

She has been involved in the Rangers coaching system for a number of years. Her progress from the clubs Football in the Community programme to captain of the ladies side demonstrates a successful player pathway for developing talent is in place at the club. There are many more youngsters representing rangers and Scotland who have also developed through the same system.
Rangers Coach Scott Allison said "We are delighted to see Lesley collect this award. As well as being a great personal achievement it is also something the club is very proud of. I first met Lesley over eight years ago when as a kid she attended Rangers community coaching sessions. To see her now captain of the senior womens side and having international caps for Scotland at youth level is fantastic. The development of players like Lesley proves that the programme and pathway that is in place is working and we hope many more players will follow in her footsteps to represent the club at the elite level."
