Course Aim

This six-hour course is open to all interested parties aged 16 and over, experienced or otherwise, who work with children aged 2-5; within the early years stage. The course will assist coaches, teachers and leaders to develop their ability to work with youngsters within this age group. The course will provide information on the Better Movers and Thinkers programme, fundamental skills and storybook soccer sessions. The Early Years resource has been created with the principles and objectives of the Curriculum for Excellence at its heart.

Target Candidate

Those coaches actively working, or interested in working in the children’s game, particularly those of pre-school or early primary school age

The course is non-assessable and attendance based only. 100% attendance must be attained in order to receive the Early Years Award

Access to the Scottish FA Live LMS (Learning Management System), including all course notes and materials; tuition fees.

Additional Information

During practical components of the course, all course candidates will be expected to participate in football-related activity for the full duration of the course.

The Scottish FA Live LMS (Learning Management System) will be utilised for the dissemination of all course materials and information; candidates are expected to check the LMS regularly for updates and notifications.

Course completion

On successful completion of the Scottish FA Early Years course, candidates will receive the Scottish FA Early Years award.

Award Validity

The Scottish FA Early Years award must be kept valid by completing accredited CCD within three years.
