Open to individuals and clubs from all backgrounds, ethnicities and ages, a total of 24 teams went head-to-head as the festival maintained its year on year growth.

The event was founded in 2013 in partnership with Bemis Scotland and with support from the Scottish Government’s Cashback for Communities initiative.

Glasgow Afghan United were victorious in the adult section after a tense showdown which ran to extra time, with SAPC Community Sports Hub claiming the honours in the youth section.

Scottish FA Community Project Co-ordinator Laura Anderson reflected on another successful event geared towards promoting diversity and equality in Scottish football.

She said: "Now in its 7th year this year’s Multicultural Football Festival reflects another dimension to showcasing the Scottish FA and BEMIS’s commitment to promoting diversity and equality in Scottish Football.

"This year, the Festival was aligned to celebrating St Andrew’s Day, reflecting on kindness, inclusiveness and advancing connected communities."

She added: "We were delighted to see 24 diverse teams from across Scotland participating in this unique event, and as always, we value continuous commitment from the Scottish Government, sportScotland and UEFA to support this programme.

"Players from the age of eight all the way through to senior adult level were invited to take part and were highly competitive in every game at Toryglen."
