UEFA Under-17 League B: Round 2 Scotland v Liechtenstein Tuesday, 25 March 2025 - 3pm kick off Falkirk Stadium, Scotland

Scotland Men's Under-17s are back in action this week with three UEFA League B Round 2 matches taking place against North Macedonia, Romania and Liechtenstein.

Scotland are the hosts for the tournament, with all games free for supporters.

Scotland take on North Macedonia on Wednesday, 19 March and then host Romania three days later, with both matches at Broadwood. Scotland's final match then takes place against Liechtenstein on Tuesday, 25 March at the Falkirk Stadium.

Scotland are aiming to secure top spot in the group, and with it, a return to League A.

Head Coach Brian McLaughlin has named a squad of 20 for the matches.

Scotland were recently in action in Turkey, as they took on Austria in two friendly matches, losing the first match 1-0 and drawing the second 0-0.

A number of Scotland Under-17s were given a boost with the chance to train with Steve Clarke's senior team at Lesser Hampden on Monday and Tuesday as they prepare to face Greece on Thursday in the UEFA Nations League.

There were two changes to the original squad, with Queen's Park's Cole Burke and Rangers' Oliver Goodbrand withdrawing. They have been replaced by Aberdeen's Cooper Masson and Hearts' Taylor Hogarth.

Pre-tournament thoughts

We caught up with Aberdeen youngster Fletcher Boyd ahead of the triple header. The 17-year-old burst onto the scene at the end of last season with back-to-back goals off the bench in his first two Dons appearances, against Hibernian and Livingston.

Scotland's Fletcher Boyd: "I’m really looking forward to the games. I missed the last matches so I’m buzzing for these ones. I’ve played in the Scotland squads since Under-15s and I always enjoy coming away with Scotland. We’ve got a good team and I think we were a bit unlucky with the games last year, they just didn’t go our way.

"I remember making my debut at Under-15s level against Gibraltar which was an unreal feeling. My family weren’t at that one but it was a really proud moment for them too.

"The finish to the season at Aberdeen last season was unbelievable to be honest. The boys were all really happy for me. It came from the blue, really.

"I’d trained with the first team a couple of times but I hadn’t even been on the bench at all. Peter Leven, the interim manager, actually phoned me on the way home from training and told me I was going to be involved. It was crazy because we actually won the Under-18s league the day before against Rangers down in Glasgow so I wasn’t expecting to get on but to come on and score was surreal.

"We then got to play at Pittodrie and lift the Under-18s league trophy against Celtic which was amazing. That was my first time playing at Pittodrie, then two days later I came on against Livingston and scored which was my favourite moment in football so far.

"This week will be the first time I’ve played in Scotland for the national team so that will be a good experience, playing in front of family and friends. If we play well, it’s games we’re capable of winning so hopefully we can go and do that."
