Under-21 International Friendly Scotland v Iceland Tuesday, 25 March 2025 - 1pm kick off (UK time) Pinatar Arena, Spain

Scotland Men's Under-21 Head Coach Scot Gemmill has named a squad of 24 for two upcoming friendly matches in Spain against Republic of Ireland and Iceland.

The first match for Scot Gemmill's side is against Republic of Ireland on Friday, 21 March and the second game takes place four days later on Tuesday, 25 March, with both matches at the Pinatar Arena in Spain.

These two matches will be played by a youthful squad, made up of players who are 2004-born and younger, with the previous group (that included the likes of Cieran Slicker, Connor Barron, Tommy Conway and Max Johnston) no longer eligible to compete in the new cycle which begins with the EURO 2027 qualifiers which begin in September. Scotland were last month drawn into a group alongside Portugal, Czechia, Bulgaria, Azerbaijan and Gibraltar for the qualifiers.

Of the 24, there are 13 players who have been called up to the Under-21s for the first time, with a number of players promoted from Neil MacFarlane's Under-19 squad who competed in the European qualifiers at the end of 2024.

David Watson, Jeremiah Mullen, Dire Mebude and Daniel Kelly are among the players who became regulars in the previous Under-21 campaign who are eligible to compete again.

Bailey Rice was previously named in MacFarlane's Under-19 squad for their friendlies in Spain next week but he will join up with the Under-21 group instead.
