Scottish Gas Football Camps
Scottish Gas and the Scottish FA have continued their partnership into 2026 to provide week-long football camps during school holidays, allowing children from all socio-economic backgrounds to access free football. The football camp provision also tackles the issue of ‘holiday hunger’ as free lunch is provided to all attendees. During the 2026 Easter Holidays, 39 camps engaged with over 1,000 children nationwide.
One of the Scottish Gas Easter Camps in Falkirk was treated to a special surprise visit from former Scotland international Lee McCulloch, who helped coach the kids on the day. Lee also visited the family home of one of the kids, Lucas, to discuss the positive impact of the camps on the whole family.
Lucas’ mum, Deborah, speaking on the impact of the camps:
“As a mum, the best thing about the Scottish Gas football camps is that I can continue to work over the holidays, while my son is at the camp having fun, being active, and in a safe, friendly environment.” This activity followed a national study by YouGov, which revealed nearly half of all parents worry about keeping their children entertained during the holidays. The study also revealed that over 50% of parents report an increase in financial strain during holidays, citing extra activities and food costs.
Participants were rewarded for embodying the Positive Energy traits – teamwork, communication, respect and fair play - with a string of amazing prizes which included tickets to watch Scottish Gas Scottish Cup fixtures. This activity followed a national study by OnePoll, which revealed 9 in 10 adults view sport as a great way for kids to develop key skills – including communication, teamwork and respect. The study also revealed 82% of parents believe coaches have a vital influence in their child’s development.
The Scottish Gas Football Camps are returning with another round of exciting football camps. If you are interested in registering your child for an upcoming camp, please submit a contact form through your relevant regional team here.
