He made his professional debut against Fulham in the opening game of the season and went on to play in every league game that year for Norwich.
A £13.5 million move to Southampton followed, with Gunn being named player of the match on his debut against Chelsea.
After a season-long loan spell at Stoke City, he made a permanent switch back to Norwich in 2021, making over 120 appearances across a four-year spell with the club before joining Premier League side Nottingham Forest in August 2025.
At international level, Gunn received his first call up to the Scotland squad in March 2023, making his debut in a 3-0 victory against Cyprus at Hampden before keeping another clean sheet three days later during a famous 2-0 victory over Spain.
The goalkeeper was part of Steve Clarke’s squad for EURO 2024 in Germany, starting all three of Scotland’s group games at the tournament.
Gunn started four of Scotland’s matches during the successful 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign, missing the final two matches through injury.
