
Born in February 1978, midfielder Barry Ferguson made his Scotland debut against Lithuania in September 1998, and was appointed captain in 2004. He led the side during the memorable Euro 2008 qualification campaign, and scored his third Scotland goal in the final qualifier against Italy at Hampden in November 2007. His professional playing career began in 1994 with Rangers FC although Barry left there to go to Blackburn Rovers in 2003. He came back to Rangers before returning to England to play for Birmingham City and Blackpool.
