William John Bremner was born in Stirling on 9 December, 1942. Died on 7 December, 1997. An all-time Scotland great, Billy Bremner was small, red-haired and utterly determined to succeed - which he did for both club and country. He joined Leeds United from school in 1958, making his debut two years later. His time at the club coincided with their rise from relative obscurity to European success and his medals included the Fairs Cup in 1968 and 1971 and the Football League in 1969 and 1974. Billy won three under-23 caps before making his debut in a 0-0 draw against Spain at Hampden. He would go onto play in the 1974 World Cup.
