
Davie Cooper was born in Hamilton on 25 February 1956. Cooper made his debut for Clydebank in 1974; he would go on to win the second division with the Bankies in 1975-76. A move to Rangers followed in 1977, where he enjoyed a hugely successful time: he won the League three times, the Scottish Cup three times and the League Cup seven times. In 1989, Cooper was signed for Motherwell by former teammate Tommy McLean. He helped the Steelmen win the 1991 Scottish Cup. He finished his club career at Clydebank.
Cooper made his Scotland debut against Peru in September 1979. He was part of the squad for the 1986 World Cup, playing twice at the finals in Mexico. In total he earned 22 caps for his country, scoring six goals.
