Eligible for Scotland through his grandparents, Matt was called-up for the first time when Craig Levein included him in his squad for a friendly against Slovenia in February 2012. The pacey winger won his first cap in a friendly defeat to USA at EverBank Field, Jacksonville, three months later. Matt came through the youth ranks at Wycombe Wanderers, and made his senior debut, aged 17, in April 2008. He signed for newly-promoted English Premier League side Blackpool in August 2010, when he was still just 19. He spent three years with The Seasiders, before joining Queens Park Rangers at the start of season 2013/14.
