Biography
Scott McKenna began his career in the Aberdeen youth academy, making his debut in professional football during a loan spell with Ayr United in 2015.

He made his Aberdeen debut in February 2016 and went on to become a key player at the club, making over 100 appearances for the Dons before a move to Nottingham Forest in 2020.

In his second season with Forest, McKenna was voted as the club’s Player of the Season as they won promotion back to the English Premier League for the first time in over two decades.

He joined Danish Superliga side FC Copenhagen on loan in January 2024, making his UEFA Champions League debut during a last-16 tie against Manchester City.

The defender signed for Las Palmas in the summer of 2024 before moving to Dinamo Zagreb in July 2025 and he would go on to lift the league title in Croatia to claim his first major honour.

At international level, McKenna made his debut for the senior national side during a friendly against Costa Rica in March 2018.

On only his fourth cap for his country, he was named captain for a friendly match against Mexico at the famous Azteca Stadium in June 2018.

In June 2021, the defender was included as part of Steve Clarke’s squad for the delayed EURO 2020, coming on as a substitute in the final group match against Croatia at Hampden.

The following summer, he scored his first international goal on his 25th cap for his country during a 2-0 UEFA Nations League victory over Armenia.

McKenna was named in Steve Clarke’s squad for EURO 2024 in Germany, appearing in all three of Scotland’s group stage matches at the tournament.

The defender played in five of Scotland’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers, including a crucial 4-2 victory over Denmark which sealed qualification for the tournament.
