McAneny moved on loan to Hearts for the 2021/22 campaign and was nominated for the inaugural PFA Scotland Women’s Young Player of the Year award after an impressive season with the Edinburgh club.
She returned to Celtic ahead of the 2022/23 campaign and won the Scottish Cup with the side that season, starting the final against rivals Rangers.
The following season, the midfielder was part of the Celtic side who made history by winning the SWPL title for the first time, making thirteen league appearances throughout the season.
McAneny became a regular in the Celtic starting eleven during the 2024/25 season, scoring 16 goals in 40 appearances and making her UEFA Champions League debut.
After scoring from the halfway line after only four seconds against Hibernian in December 2025, McAneny was awarded a Guinness World Record for the fastest goal ever scored in women’s professional football.
At international level, McAneny earned five caps for the Scotland Under-16 side and four caps for the Under-19 side.
During an Under-16 match against Gibraltar in February 2020, the midfielder scored a bicycle kick which was later voted as the Scottish FA’s Goal of the Year.
She made her senior Scotland debut in November 2025, coming on as a second half substitute to score a 96th minute equaliser against Ukraine.
McAneny started her first game for the Scotland senior side in March 2026 against Luxembourg and scored her second international goal against the same opposition four days later.
