Nicola Docherty
Biography
Nicola Docherty joined Falkirk at the age of 10, spending eight years with her hometown club before a move to Rangers in 2010.

The full-back made 20 league appearances during her first spell with the Glasgow side and was part of the first ever Rangers women’s team to play at Ibrox in May 2010.

Docherty signed for fellow SWPL side Glasgow City in January 2012 and became a regular in the team during a period of domestic dominance for the club.

During her time with City the defender won a total of 17 trophies, including eight consecutive SWPL titles and four consecutive domestic trebles.

Docherty returned to Rangers in February 2020 and was part of the first Rangers side to win the SWPL title in 2022 before adding the Sky Sports Cup the following year.

She was named as the new club captain ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, leading the side to a domestic cup double during her first season with the armband.

At international level, Docherty represented Scotland at Under-17 and Under-19 level, including two appearances at the 2010 UEFA Under-19 Championship in Macedonia.

She received her first senior call up in May 2011, making her debut in September of that year as a substitute during a 7-2 victory over Finland.

The defender was part of the Scotland squad that travelled to the 2019 FIFA World Cup in France, starting group stage matches against England and Argentina.

She scored her first international goal against the Faroe Islands in September 2022, adding her second the following year with a long-range strike against Australia.

Docherty joined the Scotland International Roll of Honour in December 2023 after winning her 50th cap during a UEFA Nations League match against Belgium.
