Scot Gemmill has added Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour to his Under-21 squad for two crucial qualifiers next month.
The 19-year-old has been absent from the previous two squads following surgery on his knee in July, but makes his return to the international scene for the final push in the bid for European qualification.
The squad, which was named earlier this week, will face Croatia at Tynecastle before travelling to face Greece in the final two fixtures of Group 4.
Following an historic victory over San Marino which came just days after a well-earned win against Czech Republic, the Under-21s find themselves just one point behind table-toppers Czech Republic with a valuable game in hand.
Under-21 head coach Scot Gemmill said: “Billy Gilmour’s inclusion in the squad is a great boost ahead of our games next month as he returns from his injury.
“We’ve been in communication with Chelsea regarding his rehabilitation and I’d like to thank them for their assistance and making their player available. I’m delighted his next step in recovery is being called up to the 21s squad.
“He picked up an injury in July but he’s recovered well and we know his experience with the 21s will not only aid us in our two games but also help Billy in his return."
