The Scottish FA has today announced the latest intake of its Youth Ambassadors of Change, with 23 of the country’s next generation of football influencers set to provide the voice of young people nationwide on the shape of Scottish football.

The selected ambassadors will form the Scottish FA’s Youth Congress for the next two years, with the chance to work alongside the Scottish FA on different aspects of the sport. Each aspect has been chosen by a member of the Youth Congress, including fan experience, coaching and mental health.

With an average age of 20, the new Youth Congress sees ambassadors in full-time education sit alongside those in the world of full or part-time employment, ensuring a variety of viewpoints are heard.

The Youth Congress will be co-chaired by Lyall Cameron and Joshua Barrie, with Rachel Fowler and Hannah Markley serving as vice-chairs.

The full spectrum of Scottish football is represented by the new intake of Youth Ambassadors, with those selected coming from a variety of backgrounds within the sport, from officiating and volunteering to coaches and fans.

A number of the new Youth Congress have also been a part of the Scottish FA development pathway during their football career to date, with former members of the Scottish FA JD Performance School and Scottish FA School of Football systems and the My Volunteer and Inspire programme amongst those selected in the new cohort of ambassadors.

The new ambassadors will begin their term of office in January 2019, following a training weekend that will take place in the Central Region next month.

Speaking about the announcement, Scottish FA Participation and Engagement Officer Robin Drummond said: “I’m delighted to announce the new group of Youth Ambassadors of Change at the Scottish FA.

“We are privileged to have such a fantastic group of young people with such passion for our national game.

“We run this programme to enable us to gather the views of young people on matters that affect them within our game, and I’m looking forward to hearing their views on how we can continue our pursuit to improve football in Scotland for all.”
