Scotland Women were named Team of the Year at the Sunday Mail and sportscotland Scottish Sports Awards last night in Glasgow.
They fought off competition from Scotland’s Men’s Amateur Team (Golf) and the Homeless World Cup Scotland Women team.
Anna Signeul was also nominated for Coach of the Year fresh from helping the national team reach their first ever major finals, having been in charge for 10 years.
After lifting the Team of the Year gong, Anna said: “It was totally a surprise as we didn’t think we’d get it.
“It’s a huge accolade for the sport and just reward for all the effort we’ve put in.
“I think we’ve changed the culture of the sport in this country over the last 10 years thanks to the help of the Scottish FA, the board and Stewart (Regan).
“Without the support from sportscotland, the institute of sport and the government it would have been difficult to have achieved what we have.”
Hibernian Captain Joelle Murray said: “Just being in the company of everyone in that room was special as there were so many incredible individuals.
“It was surprising to get the award but certainly something I feel we deserve.”
