The Scottish FA is saddened to learn about the passing of former national team goalkeeping coach Alan Hodgkinson, who died this evening aged 79.
A legend at Sheffield United during his playing days, Hodkinson was part of Craig Brown’s backroom staff with the Scotland national team in the 1990s, where he worked with goalkeepers such as Andy Goram and Jim Leighton.
In 2008, he was awarded an MBE for services to football, following nearly six decades in the game.
Scottish FA President Alan McRae: "We are saddened by the news of Alan's death. His knowledge and experience was of tremendous benefit to some of Scotland's best-ever goalkeepers during his time as goalkeeping coach to the national team."
