Aberdeen 1-1 Hibernian
(Hibernian progress 4-2 on penalties)


The Dons took a first half lead thanks Lawrence Shankland, but Lewis Allan levelled for the visitors after 66 minutes. The sides couldn’t be separated after extra-time, but Hibernian came out on top from 12 yards with Neil Martyniuk sealing victory for the Edinburgh side.

Heart of Midlothian 3-0 Whitehill Welfare


Last year’s runners-up of the cup hosted local opposition on Friday night for the first fixture in the Scottish FA Youth Cup third round. In the end it was a comfortable victory for the Jambos with their three goals coming in the first half thanks to Alasdair Roy and a Robbie Buchanan brace. However, Hearts didn’t go untested and if not for a magnificent penalty save by Robert Brown in the second half, it could have been an interesting final half an hour.

Celtic 2-0 Motherwell

Former Motherwell manager Stuart McCall was in the stand to watch the U20’s as they were narrowly defeated by 13-time champions of the trophy, Celtic. However, it took the Hoops 80 minutes to eventually break down the tough Motherwell side thanks to a wonderful Liam Henderson strike. Kieran Tiernan doubled their advantage shortly after to seal the Glasgow side’s place in the fourth round.

Dundee United 4-0 Formartine United

Dundee United made light work of their north region opponents at Glebe Park with three goals in the first 25 minutes. Rafa Malaga opened the scoring on nine minutes and five minutes later Aaron Duke headed in to double their advantage. Harry Souttar, brother of John, got himself on the score sheet before half-time and Chris McLaughlin rounded off the scoring as he finished off from the spot with less than 15 minutes reamining on the clock.

Dunfermline Athletic 5-1 Clyde

Dunfermline Athletic eventually came away comfortable winners against Clyde FC to book their place in the fourth round. James Thomas gave the Pars the lead on five minutes, but the score was level shortly after thanks to a Conor Lynass penalty. But Dunfermline made their dominance eventually tell and Paul Crossan gave them the lead minutes before half time and they added a further three goals in the second period of play thanks to James Thomas, Cammy McClair, and Declan O'Kane.

Falkirk 1-3 St Mirren

St Mirren eventually sealed their progression into the Scottish FA Youth away to Falkirk, but it certainly wasn’t all plain sailing. Seven minutes played they found themselves behind as Connor Hogg finished from close range. The Buddies responded almost immediately as Adam Brown levelled the scores and with half an hour gone they found themselves in the lead after a Falkirk own-goal. The Bairns had a chance to equalize from the spot before half time, but Dan Wilks saved well from Liam Rowan’s effort. St Mirren rounded off their victory with 58 minutes played thanks to a Lewis McLeary header and despite Falkirk’s best efforts; they just couldn’t find a way back into the game.

Cove Rangers 0-3 St Johnstone

Allan Park played host to St Johnstone FC as they saw off a tough Cove Rangers FC side. It was Scott Wilson who gave the Perth side a one goal lead going into half-time and two quick goals thanks to Connor McLaren and a Craig Thomson penalty gave them a formidable lead. Cove certainly gave a good account of themselves and if not for an in form Mark Hurst in the St Johnstone goal, the final result could have been much closer.

Raith Rovers 0-5 Greenock Morton


Greenock Morton made light work of Raith Rovers on their travels to Stark’s Park. The west region side were ahead after five minutes thanks to Gordon Allan and two goals in quick succession by David McNeil and Thomas Orr put them in the driving seat. Allan grabbed his brace before half-time and with 20 minutes to play McNeil curved in a wonderful goal to seal Morton’s five goal haul.

Rangers 4-0 Spartans

Rangers started their defence of the cup in impressive style over Spartans FC with a comfortable victory at Ibrox. With 25 minutes played they were three in front thanks to Ryan Sinnamon, Ryan Hardie, and a Danny Stoney penalty. With 30 minutes remaining Hardie grabbed his second goal of the game to round of an impressive performance.

Annan Athletic 3-1 Fraserburgh


Annan Athletic progressed to the fourth round of the cup for the first time in their club’s history at the expense of Fraserburgh FC. James Gillan headed them in front before Fraserburgh leveled the tie before half time thanks to Aaron Garden. The Dumfries & Galloway side though regained the lead in the second half thanks to Zak Caldwell and with five minutes to go they sealed their place as James Gillan smashed home from 25 yards.

Kilmarnock 9-0 Huntly

Kilmarnock booked their place in the fourth round in emphatic style with a huge victory over Huntly FC. Five first half goals from Aaron Splaine, Dylan Pooler, Dean Hawkshaw, and a brace from Jack Whittaker gave Kilie a commanding lead with 45 minutes to play. They went on to add a further four goals with Pooler and Hawkshaw doubling their tallies, while Whittaker added the other goals to seal his hat-trick.

Queen of the South 5-3 Forfar Athletic

In an action packed game The Doonhammers came out on top, despite being down to nine men towards the end of the game.  Dean Brotherston opened the scoring for Queens with nine minutes played, but Kerr Hay equalized seven minutes later. The Dumfries side regained the lead though with half an hour gone through Jake Pickard and five minutes later Aidan Smith increased that advantage before half time.

Into the second half and Queen of the South were reduced to ten men as Jack Brannan picked up his second yellow. Despite the disadvantage, the Doonhammers added two further goals thanks to Lyndon Dykes and Pickard with his second of the game. Forfar fought back with Paul McLellan scoring with ten minutes to go before Dykes saw red for a poor challenge. It was too little, too late for Forfar though and despite an injury time goal through Max Reid, it’s Queen of the South in the hat for the next round.
