As It Happened
The National anthems of both teams got proceedings underway for the first home game of the UEFA Women’s Nations League campaign.
Scotland started the game positively, putting pressure on the Belgian back line. In the sixth minute, an effort towards goal from Claire Emslie, following some good footwork from the attacker, took a deflection off one of the Belgian players and went inches past the post. Just one minute later, Christy Grimshaw pounced on a loose ball within the 6 yard box and had an effort towards goal however it was blocked by Nicky Evrard, the Belgium goalkeeper.
Scotland had a great chance to take the lead of the game in the 37th minute when a Rachel McLauchlan ball into the box was met by the head of Christy Grimshaw however her effort was denied by a finger tip save from Nicky Evrard.
Belgium opened the scoring in the 52nd minute. A corner was played into the box before being headed clear however returned to the box seconds later, meeting Kassandra Missipo at the back post who headed home to give her side the lead of the game.
In the 74th minute, Scotland came close to getting their equaliser with substitute Amy Gallacher nearly making an instant impact off the bench, on the night she made her Scotland debut. Gallacher won a corner for her side which Lauren Davidson played into the box however Rachel Corsie’s header went narrowly past the post.
In the dying minutes of the game, Scotland were still pushing for a well-deserved equaliser. Nicola Docherty played a great ball into the box, where Amy Gallacher angled a header towards goal that went just past the right hand post.
