Biography
David first came to prominence as a 19-year-old at Celtic. He took over from Rab Douglas, who was sent-off, in a UEFA Cup tie against Barcelona in 2004.
He had made only one first team appearance before then, but was in outstanding form to keep a clean sheet and help Celtic advance to the next round.
After a spell at Norwich City he signed for Cardiff City in 2009, and helped the side earn promotion to the English Premier League at the end of season 2012/13.
His Scotland debut came in August 2004, in a friendly against Hungary, and he went on to make four appearances for the Scotland U21 squad in 2005 and 2006.
He was handed the No 1 shirt by George Burley for a B squad match against Northern Ireland in May 2009, and made his first competitive senior appearance in a FIFA World Cup qualifier against Norway three months later.
