Biography
Don Hutchison was born in Gateshead on 9 May 1971; he consistently stated his desire to play for Scotland due to his strong relationship with his father, from Nairn.
Spending his entire career in England, Hutchison played for teams including Hartlepool, Liverpool, West Ham, Sheffield United, Everton, Sunderland, West Ham, Millwall, Coventry City and Luton Town.
Hutchison made his international debut in a EURO 2000 qualifier against Czech Republic in 1999 under Craig Brown. In his second match for Scotland, he scored the winner against Germany in Bremen. One of his most memorable moments in a Scotland shirt came at Wembley in the EURO 2000 play-offs, where he scored in a 1-0 win. In 2003 Hutchison said "Playing for Scotland for my dad was something I really wanted to do because it made him feel proud. I will never forget his face when we played England at Wembley."
